Parents’ Place is a safe place to meet other parents, pick up tips and advice, and get information about health, rights and services.

What's new

  • 7 May: This year's National Schools Film Week will be in October (England) and November (Scotland). Find out ways to get your school involved. Closing date is the end of May. There's also a competition for Young Film Critic 2008, with a "Sensory Impaired" category, which includes blind and partially sighted young people.
  • 28 April: New product of the month - a gym and play ball.
  • 25 April: Off the shelf - tips on getting children reading this summer, from this month's Insight magazine.

Michael's story - by the time Michael was 23 he had lost his sight. After gaining new skills and a period of unemployment, he now works as a presenter on Insight Radio. “Working for Insight Radio has increased my confidence and skills. It’s great to be working for a radio station that reduces isolation and helps to create a sense of community for blind and partially sighted people.” Michael's full story
