Partners in Learning: certificate course for teaching assistants

Partners in Learning is a level 3 BTEC Advanced Certificate course for teaching assistants and other support staff working with blind or partially sighted children and young people in educational settings, including those with additional disabilities or complex needs.

The course aims to increase students' understanding of the impact of visual impairment on development and learning, to develop their skills in providing day to day support and to assist them in working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

We are currently developing an online/blended study route which will be piloted from April 2008.

Certificate in Grade 2 English braille

Our Certificate in Grade 2 English braille course teaches participants how to read and write in braille. This is an essential skill for anyone working alongside an individual using braille in an educational context. The course is suitable for teachers, teaching assistants, parents and support workers and is also open to people with sight problems who wish to gain a qualification in this area. It leads to the award of a level 3 BTEC Advanced Certificate.

Brush up your braille

For people already with a working knowledge of grade 2 English braille, our Brush up your braille course will help you improve.
