Legacies

Summary: Everyone can leave the world a better place - remember RNIB in your Will.

A Will is one of the most vital documents that you will ever sign. Making a Will ensures that all those you want to help (family, friends and charities) will be taken care of in the future.

Legacy Awareness Week - 28 April 2008

Hands up to help RNIBRNIB's ambition is to create widespread and lasting change for blind and partially sighted people. Legacy income is an essential source of funding for RNIB. Last year it accounted for over 30 per cent of RNIB's total income. Put simply without legacy income the continuation of all of RNIB's vital work, and ultimately the fulfilment of RNIB's ambition, will not be possible.

It is essential that everyone associated with RNIB knows the value of this form of giving. We are holding a Legacy Awareness Week from Monday 28 April to tell people about the importance of legacy giving and its impact on the support and services RNIB offers.

Legacies given to RNIB are a gift to future generations of blind and partially sighted people. If you would like any information about leaving a legacy please request a free Will guide or contact us at legacyservices@rnib.org.uk

Why leave RNIB a legacy?

The number of people with sight problems in the UK is increasing daily and as people are living longer, more people are experiencing difficulties with their sight in later life. We want to be there to help. By remembering RNIB in your Will you can help ensure that we are.

Nearly 60 per cent of RNIB's voluntary income comes from legacies. Put simply, £1 in every £3 we spend on providing help and support for blind and partially sighted people is as a result of previous generations leaving legacies.

“When it came to making my Will there was no question: it had to be RNIB. I knew how awful it would be to lose my sight and RNIB’s work is so important for people with sight loss.”
Bob Vant, one of our legacy pledgers
