Courses in Birmingham
- Supernova workshop: supporting users of Supernova Access Technology - hands on experience of Supernova, focusing on some of the essential skills required to support users. Friday 19 September 2008.
- Zoomtext workshop: supporting users of Zoomtext – learn to use and configure Zoomtext access technology software for effective computer access. Friday 17 October 2008.
Courses in Bristol
- Adapting computers for people who are blind and partially sighted – an opportunity to gain in-depth, practical experience in the use of screen readers and screen magnifiers. Next date: Friday 13 June 2008.
- Bringing the web to life - gain awareness of internet accessibility issues and hands-on experience with access technology software and the internet. Next date: Friday 18 July 2008.
- Transcription: using a PC to provide accessible information - learn and practise the basic methods by which inaccessible information can be transcribed into accessible formats. Next date: Friday 10 October 2008.
- Enabling independence through technology – gain an overview of a range of different technologies which help provide blind and partially sighted people independent access to information. Next date: to be confirmed.

- Switches and who needs them? Technology for pupils with complex needs – learn about a wide range of switches, software and other devices for children and young people with complex needs. Wednesday 26 November 2008.

- Zoomtext workshop: supporting users of Zoomtext – learn to use and configure Zoomtext software so that it can be used effectively and provide computer access for a user. Next date: Tuesday 4 November 2008.

- An Introduction to accessible ICT - providing an overview to the way in which computers can be used without a mouse, and providing a session on Visual Awareness. Next date: Thursday 26 June 2008.
- Using Supernova workshop: supporting users of Supernova - practical advice and guidance on how to support learners and users who use the Supernova access software. Next date: Wednesday 9 July 2008.
- Using JAWS workshop: supporting users of JAWS - practical advice and guidance on how to support learners and users who use the JAWS screen reader. Next date: Thursday 10 July 2008.
- Web Accessibility and Email - providing advice and guidance on how to navigate web pages and email programmes using accessible software and hardware. Next date: Tuesday 9 September 2008.

BCAB Trainer Certification Scheme
Find out about the BCAB Trainer Certification Scheme, enabling access technology trainers to work towards a qualification. BTCS provides a professional qualification for Access Technology trainers in the UK.

Diane's story - Diane Clark, 47, was diagnosed with diabetes in her teens and with diabetic retinopathy when she was 25. She received regular treatment and eye tests. “I missed one appointment.
